Although Dave is best known for his use of the Gibson ES 335, he now uses A Fender Telecaster onstage. I saw him at The Abbey in Chicago twice last year. Man what a gas! It was sort of the solo acoustic unplugged tour. He played a Taylor acoustic exclusively, except for "Sabre Dance, when he pulled out the Telecaster. If you haven't heard his latest live release "A Pile of Rock" check it out, you won't be disappointed. "Musical Fantasies" available off Dave's official web site is also great.

any idea what year ,model telecaster he is using?

I think it's a 1953. It's the one with the maple neck , natural finish body and black pick plate. Personally, I think the 63 telecaster is a superior instrument. What do you play?

I sometimes play a 63 reissue Telecaster, but my main guitar is a 63 reissue Stratocaster, I like the contoured body. I've been thinking that I'd like some kind of a hollow body, I was looking at a Gretsch 6120, but they don't seem to stay in tune very well. Any suggestions?

how abouy a gibson 335, if you can afford it?

I like the 335, but I think I want the thicker hollow body, maybe a 175. I like those bigger sounds. Either way, I'd want to get it fitted out with a Bigsby. I want something that you can use the tremelo arm and not throw the guitar out of tune. Right now, with the warmer weather, my attention is turning to some of my other interests like fly fishing and gardening. Since this is a Dave Edmunds discussion page, does anybody want to talk about Dave or Rockpile, or any of the many musicians that Dave has been affiliated through his great production work?
