i heard a sweet song by cake on the radio the other day. it has a nutty guitar riff going throughout it- i can't remember the name though- anybody got any suggestions?

what up,
just curious to know if anyone might know on the album fashion nugget, the song "friend is a four letter word that ends with n, n is the only part of the word i heard", what is the four letter word. i'm not sure if the song goes exactly like that but i'm curious to know the four letter word.

blake 41 i honestly dont know and i was thinking 'bout it b4 and i think Cake meant Love. It makes sense because he's talking to this girl. "to me, coming from you friend [love] is a four letter word." So hes sayin that she only thinks of her boyfriends in romance an not as their friends. Just an idea

in my opinion, I believe the song is about hopeless devotion. I think the four letter word IS "love" everytime she says shes his friend, he wants her to be saying she loves him. "i'm really only praying
that the words you'll soon be saying
might betray the way you feel about me"
he wants her to betray their friendship, for love. and then "call me morbid or absurd" hes saying call me morbid, because Im obssesed with something thats clearly dead, and absurd, because hes crazy for thinking this way. This is what I believe the song to be about, but I may just see it that way because of personal experience.

the whole song is about fishing (when i go fishing)... and the four letter word is 'worm' and its the 'end' because its the end of the worms life (since it will be split in half and put on a hook) and ya know how sometimes u can befriend the worm before u kill it..thats why this guy is soo sad, cuz he doesn't want to be the fishes friend b4 he uses it for bait... lol

Friend is a four letter word:
I started playing this piece recently, and I wasn't entirely sure what the lyrics meant. After a long discussion, we decided that "Friend is a four letter word" is make a reference to the profanities (mostly four letters), and the expression "don't use any four letter words." (if you've heard it). "End is the only part..." is talking about ending something or other. I'm not sure if that's going to satisfy y'all, but if it does, who has any ideas about Mr. Mastadon Farm????? I've never really figured it out..but a "swatch" is a small piece of fabric.
Very cool band. NEW CD IN JUNE!!! (or is it July..I got an e-mail about it because I'm on the mailing list)
Hopefully there will be a tour after the CD comes out.

Well, bought the new Cake album. Gotta say, kinda disappointed. I only skimmed through the songs, though, so maybe I gotta give it more time. The best song I heard was "Dime." Other than that....eh. I liked Prolonging the Magic so much more. Comfort Eagle was pretty cool, too.

Ok.. My theory on Friend Is a Four Letter Word. I think it has double meaning... one of them being what RegimeChange said. Four Letter word signifies that the word friend is a BAD word. Also when they say End is the only part of the word that I heard. The letter "I" in the word friend is silent. Therefore the actual four letter word being Iend but pronounced End. To me this song could have been talking about anyone. Anyone who does not diserve your friendship any longer for something they done. But if it was written to a girl (I wouldnt know if this is true or not) I could understand maybe the love theory. But this what I think.
I've seen a lot of you asking for explanations of songs... And the one that I have some trouble with is Sheep Go To Heaven.

Cake is great.. I really liked the Prolonging the Magic and comfort eagle cds and have yet to hear the new one.. didnt even know there was a new one actually, but glad that i'm now aware..but before i run out and buy'r, anyone else got it? Worth while???

I just went to the chicago show last night and I was a little dissapointed, they only played for about an hour :(
