Hey Folks,
Has anyone ever heard of an unreleased Belle & Sebastian song, called: "The Disenchanted Pony". I've been told by some people, very close to the band, that it's the best thing that Stuart Murdoch ever wrote, but no one seems to know where to get a copy.
If anyone has a recording of this song - whatever the quality - I'd pay well for a copy.
love

Tasha, I think you're talking about "My Wandering Days Are Over" from Tigermilk - it has a lyric about 'the disenchanted pony'...but it's not the whole song....just an idea.

B&S is probably in my top 10. Arab Strap is really exquisite; takes me back to my (extremely painful) first year of college and The Rollercoaster never fails to put a lump in my throat (the gentle piano in that song is especially lovely). Really precious stuff.

I just got an advance copy of Isobel Campbell's new solo album and I love it!! It's called "Amorino" and its been on constant rotation in my house. Any fan of Belle and Sebastian or The Gentle Waves should pick it up. It will be coming out on October 7th on Instinct Records and it shouldn't be hard to find. Isobel sounds great and all the songs are fantastic. Do yourselves a favor and get it when it comes out!!!

Melora Creagor has put out an album under the name of Rasputina. She is opening for Belle and Sebastian on their American tour from November 4th through Nov. 14th. Melora's own tour is from Oct. 10th through Dec. 13th all over the U.S. Anyone who can should check her out, she sounds great.

Any of you Belle and Sebastian fans out there hip to a band called Goldenboy, and their CD "Blue Swan Orchestra"? It's really beatiful, and features a guest appearance by the late Elliot Smith. Check it out and tell me what you think!

Hmmm....I will have to check out Goldenboy. It sounds promising! I remember hearing about it on the Elliott Smith board awhile ago. Anyway, it seems like a lot of people aren't too wild about Belle & Sebastian's new record. I love it, though. If She Wants Me and Wrapped Up In Books are two of my new B&S favorites. Anyone pick up the Fans Only dvd yet?

I must say I'm very impressed by "Push Barman to Open Old Wounds", and not only by the music. It's so generous of the band/record label to put all their EPs on one double cd. Assuming it is complete (I don't know the band's history well), it is wonderfully convenient, and a big money/time saver.
My favourite song is "Lazy Line Painter Jane"

tigermilk was my first and favorite. people should really start w/ that album. and to be honest, they're a bit overrated.

I don't think they're overrated. I think they're among the best writers of a pop melody of the 1990s / naughties.

Has anybody heard the Album 'StoryTelling'? is it any good?
