For me this is the highest level of harmonic richness that can be achieved in music... >>By xpike Twenty five years ago I wrote my undergraduate dissertation on this very concerto. It is a marvellous piece and perfectly constructed. Oddly enough, although I have not listened to it for many years, I was thinking about it a few days ago, and wondering why Bartok chose to write a 12-tone melody as the 2nd subject of the 1st movement. The work uses no serial techniques as far as I remember, perhaps it was merely a nod to Schoenberg et al.. What do you think? >>By Kittoro You are not logged in.
