A freind of mine called Karl used to live in Falmouth. Richard D James (A.K.A Polygon Window, AFX, Universal Indicator, Aphex Twin etc) was currently unheard of and had not yet been signed to A&S/R&S (I don't know, some European label before he founded Rephlex).
Karl sent a mixtape back to Wales for me - AFX was the only thing written on this black analogue cassette and the material on it completely blew me away. I'm telling you; you don't get stuff like this come round a lot. If you want farty pop princesses, then that's fine. But if you want to broaden your horizons. Selected Ambient Works II would be an excellent place to start.

i guess afx experiments a lot with everything... sampling, editing and programming is the thing, its not great science... i dont believe that the specifics are important... the truth about it is creativity... thats the only tech that he or anyone needs to create amazing music...
i think afx is more up to dj-ing right now... dont really like much his sets when i hear them... but im curious about hearing him live... it must be energyfull party experience... maybe someday he would come to Lima.
