I discovered Alva Noto (aka Carsten Nicolai) while I was in Japan last year. It was a record, done with Ryuichi Sakamoto playing the piano, called 'Vrioon'. Minimalist electronica with also minimal impressionistic piano. Beautiful. Just like a zen garden. Alva Noto uses small sounds, fax tones, noises and scratches and works on them and turns them into rythm patterns, almost building into songs. I can say this was - and still is, one of my favorite record.
The other two releases are also very interesting. It's like taking dust, and look at it with a magnifying glass. One discovers a whole new beautiful world!
