Alan Parsons Project

in the 80's i bought alot of aap material, because it was a blend of the music that i liked...and still do!
The title "progressive rock band" means nothing to me.
I listen to music because of the way it makes me feel or coz it encapsulates that particular "mood." aap did that on many occasions!

No doubt, APP put out the best music of all time (in my opinion). The guitar solos, the harmonies, the mixing of real sounds, and the addition of layer after layer of beautiful sounds are unmatched by any other "progressive rock" group. Parsons is a musical genius.

I hope all the Alan Parsons albums are released on Super Audio
CD or DVD. The current CD releases are hard find and don't sound
very good.

I am looking for a site where I can download "Don't Let It Show." I am not an avid music downloader, (whatever) but that song is one that I simply have to find. If anyone knows where I can find it without having to shell out any money since I am a single mother, no child support and on disability (sorry for the sob story but it's all true) I can't spend money on luxuries like music (sad huh!) I'd appreciate any directions to any sites that will let you downoad without a credit card. Thanks.

The Alan Parson's project can be called one of the few bands that exists for the music. From the orchestral "Fall of the House of Usher" movements to the frantic and hilarious anti hippi song "pyramania", Alan Parsons project never ceases to amaze! simply put. It is the pinnacle of music

I've been searching for a APP (I think) song that used to play on MTV or VH1 as a video, where the scene was a drive in restaurant... If I recall it was an animated video, but I can't recall the name of the song, any help would be appreciated.

>>By Geek   (Thursday, 27 Mar 2003 05:51)

Alan Parsons was the engineer on the Beatles "Abby Road" album as well as Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother" and "Dark Side of the Moon".

The Alan Parsons Project video ant the drive in restaurant was "Don't Answer Me".

The song "Don't Let It Show" can be found on the "I Robot" cd.

If you have any more questions, I find this site helpful http://www.theavenueonline.info/

My first real introduction to the Project was, unbelievably, when I went Dumpster diving after school was out at the boarding high school I went to, and found a broken Walkman and a "Turn of a Friendly Card" tape. The Walkman was soon fixed, and I spent that whole summer listening to the tape. To this day when I listen to the into of "May Be a Price to Pay" I am reminded of that time. Through the rest of the 80s I continued to accrue Parsons albums and my collection is now complete (with the exception of Woolfson's "Gambler." I love listening to Parsons out in the desert. It makes for a really out-of-this-world experience. The aural smorgasbord that he creates with the Fairlight and other instruments is just tremendous. I like all sorts of classic and progressive rock, but Parsons is still top of my list. Hope they eventually release "Sicilian Defense", an album which was finished in the late 70s (I think) but locked up to this day due to fights with the record company.

I' and went to see ALan Parsons at Primm. After the excellent show, it was close to midnight, had a few minutes to ride the desperado rollercoaster. Bought my ticket and I sat in the very last car and waited to go. Nobody else came to ride and I did'nt think I was going either. All of the sudden a small group approaches the train. As they filed in two by two, in the front, two people stood out like sore thumbs. Yep! Alan Parsons and guitarist Ian Bairnson along with the rest of the band and a couple women was going with me on my favorite coaster ever! After the ride, I casually walked up to the group and leaned toward Alan and asked for a autograph. After being that close to the man whose music has meant so much in my life, I did'nt think it could get better. BUT! It did! Alan Parsons invited me, a nobody, to ride the coaster one more time, this time next to him. I have never felt such a mixture of emotions and adrenalines and probably won't again. After the ride I thanked them all for a night and a life of the best music ever. As I was turning around, I felt a tap. I turned around and received a 5x7 portrait of Mr. Parsons and myself on the coaster. You know one of them as yoou ride shots, then pointed out that it was autographed. He smiled, shook my hand, and thanked me for listening. And was gone. I stood waiting for the bus back to Vegas and started to cry, did'nt know why, but I do know that I will never, ever forget to remember that evening for the rest of my life

I remember listening to "Don't Answer Me" on the radio in my mom's Pontiac Parisienne back in the early '80s on a dark summer evening with the windows down. It was mesmerising to me as a kid. I only heard the song once but was hooked. Later on in life, I would catch whispers of it here and there on the radio and I even saw the drive-in video one time, but I never caught the title or the group. Finally, just a few weeks ago, I remembered the song and tried doing a search on Kazaa for "Don't Answer Me" and low and behold, that transcendent song emerged like an old familiar friend, just like one of the above posters said. Finally, I learned the name of the group, Alan Parsons Project, made infamous by Dr. Evil. There are only a few songs that take me away. This one, "Eyes Without A Face" by BIlly Idol, and "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaac rank among them. They are truly from another world. Conjures to mind a glowing bright diner on a dark and foggy night on a long and deserted road. It makes me wonder if heaven must taste like this, if we might have caught glimpses of heaven from time to time throughout our lives. It gives me hope for beauty in the life to come, even in the midst of our hustling and bustling lives and all the stresses and unpleasantness of today.

In common with it, I am here first time I want to introduce myself: My name is James. I live in Warsaw, Poland.
The reason, what I was goin' to write to this list is one stupid thing. For a loooooooooong time I've tried to find
video to song, what Geek wrotes about it. I'm thin
king about "Don't answer me" video. I almost dream ;) about
having this video (can download from anywhere). I've tried to find this video on the whole Internet, but I still can't
find & download this video anywhere, but I'm keen on having this video more than much.
If someone know where can I download this CD - please give me any directons for my e-mail (jakub_zol@go2.pl).
I will be thankfull more than more ;).

Thank You very, very much In Advance.
Best Regards,
James

I can give You my head to cut, but I think, that I found answer for every posts about 'Don't answer me' video.
If somebody wants - Please - You can writes me for address jakub_zol@go2.pl or with this letter (but I don't kknow if I give Your letters) but I found 'Don't answer me' video.
At address http://www.olhonoceu.hpg.ig.com.br/videos.html there is a site where are screens from videoclips to APP songs.
Next, when You pressed any video screen like e.g Don't answer me (two men sitting in front of the piano and so on...) You will automatically moved to
http://planeta.terra.com.br/arte/Olhonoceu/ site. Now there are 2 ways for downloading this video:
1st way: At this site there are a few links to videos (1st is 'Don't answer me'). When You press the link Your media player program opens the video. Now You must only choose 'Save As' in Your Media Player (I use Windows Media Player and I give the way in this client) and the video saves itself automatically. But this way not always functions, than I prefer choose 2nd way ;). Out of it 2nd way is easier, quicker & what the most urgent - alaways functions - generally BETTER !!! :)
But it also 2nd way (In my humble opinion easier) : It's enough to enter to http://planeta.terra.com.br/arte/Olhonoceu/ site and click right mouse button on 'DON'T ANSWER ME' link and choose 'Save As...' (As I said I use Media Player, than every command are from this client, but I think, that in other programs idea is near) and the rest will be automatically.
I think it's everything. Have You any questions, comments or sth - please write me if You want.

Best Regards,
James
