Discussion: Afi i have to say that going on the radio and tv does not make a band "sellouts" what makes them sell out is when they dont have time for their fans, dont stay true to their music, and claim their something their not. take all the tenny bopper bands for instance.... half of them used to be underground punk. then they got the chance to show the world what they were made of... instead of making an appearence and then drifting back to underground punk, they chose to stay and sellout for money. but the sheer fact that stupid bands get played over and over and over on the tv and raido is not nessicarly the bands fault. there are asshole fans and media that ruin bands. that is why if you have over 200 girls with fake punk everything liking a band...you are for sure doomed. not that girls listening to punk is bad. just certain types of girls who take it way too far, and make a mess of things. it goes the same way for guys too. >>By kill all the posers AFI is one of the best, most inspiring bands i have ever listend to. their music is so incredible. all u people saying u are true afi fans...and then go around accusing all the new fans or maybe people that have only started liking them after their Sing the Sorrow release...u should really kick urself in the ass. True afi fans are any fans that truly love their music. i mean shit...most of u guys were new fans too at some point. i remember i just started listenin to afi in 98' nd older fans gave me shit sometimes cuz i wuznt "there from the beginning". Other people just havnt discoverd afi's incredible music until now...which is okay. and i noe it soemtimes gets annoying when nfg fucks go around sayting "afi fucking rocks", but at least they're discovering good music in afi. just cuz people might not only listen to "punk" or "hardcore" doesnt mean that they cant listen to afi....i listen to alot of different types of music...and i love afi, i would give up my life for them. all im saying is...fans can be new, fans can listen to nfg or sum41, and they could still be true afi fans...so pple should just fucking stop complaining about afi "selling out" and about how all the new fans are fucks. afi is awesome. >>By sweet morpheus **:DF:** Is it just me or does AFI sound like Poison with Danzig singing? I'm a new fan and i love "sing the sorrow" and when i purchased the "the art of downing" and "black sail" i fell in love with their music even more. (well, I hope not!) I don't think AFI have sold out. Why are people so bothered about them signing to dreamworks? So they have more of a chance to get their music heard. So what? I got a m8 who cant shut up about all the punk he listens to and none of it is good in my opinion. I dont care if a band is sellouts its just the 1s that have a really anooying sound without showing much talent. Bands like Greenday are fairly mainstream showing on mtv a lot and i think they kick ass. They have an amazing style that no one can immitate. It takes a truely genuine band to make a sound so unique, and yet so loveable. They are doing something so right.
